Women, Take Care Of Yourself!

Whether women are working or at home, they are on their toes, multitasking the entire day! In spite of their best efforts to eat healthy, they still end up exhausted, tired or sleepy! Just eating enough is not sufficient to ensure good health and keep you active. Here are other things that are equally important-

Drink enough water
Everyone knows that we must drink at least 8 glasses of water every day. But how many actually follow this mantra is a big question. When you don’t drink enough water, you may feel dehydrated, fatigued, constipated, the mouth may go dry and you will be prone to mood swings. Drinking enough water also curbs your appetite and cravings and helps you to lose weight! A glowing skin will be an added bonus!

Never skip meals
Women are great at multitasking and are often hard pressed for time. Many women give up a meal in order to accommodate some other work that they deem important rather than find time to eat. But when you skip meals, it slows down your metabolism, leading to weight gain and a host of diseases. It is important that you eat small but regular meals at 3-4 hour intervals to keep yourself fresh and also to help you maintain your weight.

Include all food groups in your meal
Sometimes you are too eager to lose weight and give up totally on fats or proteins. Or you hear of a fruit diet and go all out munching only on fruits! But you must know that you cannot get away with eating just one specific food type and expect to remain active for the whole day.

Eating only fruits or eating lots of carbs but completely giving up fats or proteins is just not the way to be healthy. Vary their proportions but be sure to include all food groups in your diet.
Proteins are vital to keep your blood sugar under control, keep hunger at bay and keep you alert. It can also help you build lean muscle and lose weight. So stock up on buckwheat, quinoa, chia seeds, eggs, milk and other proteins to stay fit.

Carbs are vital too, and not eating enough carbs can lead to headaches, fatigue, mood swings and nausea. But carbs can be fattening unless you make smart choices. Eat whole grains, legumes, beans, nuts, fruits and vegetables to your diet and avoid foods like cakes, bread and jams.
Fats are also essential to our body in moderation. They give energy to the body. Include healthy fats like avocado oil, nuts, seeds, nut butters, and olives to your diet.

Exercise
When there are plenty of tasks to be accomplished, exercise is the last thing on the agenda. But 30-60 minutes of moderate exercise is a must every day. Walk, run, swim, jog, cycle, dance or do yoga, but never skip your exercise. Not exercising can lead to obesity, poor digestion, muscle deterioration, high stress and depression.

Not sleeping well
Get at least 7 hours of sleep every night. If you don’t sleep well, the body has to deal with stress, anxiety, depression, insomnia, food cravings and obesity. So however busy your schedule, get that beauty sleep.

So how do you take care of yourself? Would love to know your tips for good health!
