Memories & Special Bonds

Two Already

Two feels like a big number
But at the same time, not really big.
It comes after one
And it sure came too quick!

You are waving at me from the swing
You dance, you play.
And to think you were learning to walk
Just yesterday.

You love cheese, mud, smart phones
Story books, Garfield, music and crayon-art.
And when you are big and your priorities change,
I wish you’ll love with all your heart.

My heart glows when I look at your face
Two years of motherhood and I still feel new.
I watch you sleep and say to myself –
“I could love like this, who knew?”

Your daddy loves you more (he says!)
You make him feel blessed.
And I’m sure you already agree,
That your daddy is the best.

I love everything you do
When you walk, tumble and jump with glee.
And when you hold a book upside down
And proudly recite A-Bee-She-Bee.

Sometimes I’m tired to swing with you,
Sometimes I don’t sing along, I know.
But you have to remember you’re my princess
And my love for you will only grow.

When you’re 20 and you read this,
And you think it’s cute / awkward / formal
But darling, as far as mothers go,
This is just normal.

I am overwhelmed with my love for you
I can’t explain how I feel
Sweetie, when you’re a mother,
Only then you’ll understand the deal.

On your second birthday, child –
I wish you success, travel, love and what not!
God bless you my baby,
And in years to come, I hope you laugh a lot.

Aditi Mathur was born on Feb the 14th and since then it has all been awkward for her. A strong believer of “Whatever!”, an ex-advertising girl, a once-upon-a-time blogger, an out-of-place Army Wife and a real-life social person, she has now given up everything for her adorable almost-nine-months old daughter Gauri (Um, also for Twitter, actually). Stalk her at http://damonologue.blogspot.com or @adicrazy on Twitter. Or Not. Whatever.
