Break-Time Daughter-Time
Just came back from an out-station trip – a break from the usual hectic lifestyle, to be enjoyed and being laid-back and forget work. It was a small ten-day after-exam break from my daughter’s school and I intended to make the most of it. As hubby couldn’t take a break this time of the year, I figured out my work commitments and booked myself and daughter on an early flight out-of-town.
So it was that mother and daughter team headed out to explore a land that we’ve already been to before, but this time I intended to spend more time with her and take her through the culture and people and streets of a city she was already beginning to be a part of. Being born to parents from different cultural backgrounds is a great way for any kid to learn and absorb more of multiple cultures and to imbibe the goodness of more than one culture. I truly believe in this and that’s why I make it a point to give my daughter as much exposure as I can to different ways of life.
So from the moment we stepped inside the airport terminal for our early morning flight, I started chatting up my daughter. She was of course sleepy, the sun still not out and her droopy eyes tending to go back to sleep. But she was excited too, and by the time we started the process of boarding, she was already in her usual question mode.
Once we reached our destination, there was much for my daughter to do. And as much as I wanted her to spend time with her maternal grandparents, something she truly enjoys on her own, with me conveniently out of the picture, I also wanted to make sure that I get to show her the city through my own eyes, of course letting her paint a newer and fresher version of it to what I have.
With her hand in mine, I walked around streets and local areas, showing her this and explaining her that. When we came http://premier-pharmacy.com/product/klonopin/ across something that she isn’t accustomed to seeing where we live, I would help her get interested and curious, most times she herself was, and then answer her many questions.
Another thing we did a lot was explore local flavours together. While my daughter isn’t really that fussy about food, at five years of age, she still has a very strong palette about what she likes and what doesn’t suit her taste. But she is open to experimenting and trying out new flavours and things, and with that idea in mind, I made sure she had a taste of different local delights. Thankfully, she liked most of what she tried and it was a lot of fun for me to enjoy new delicacies with her in tow.
I remember in my last two months of pregnancy, I had secretly started wishing for a daughter. Secretly because I feared that my wish wouldn’t be granted if I said it out loud. And as the little bundle of joy was handed to me at the operating table, I was over the moon to hold my little princess in my arms. One of the biggest reasons I wanted a daughter was to have a best friend for life, with whom I would spend my special moments, sharing my likes and dislikes, seeing the world together…and that is exactly what I have got. A new best friend for life, who has started being my mamma now each time we go out, holding my hand firmly, telling me to be careful, to watch out if there’s a step ahead, and finally to take her ‘godi’ as those little feet begin to get tired.
