I am going to be a mom soon…and it scares the living daylights out of me when I consider the possibility of bringing a girl into this world!

Ghata, many many congratulations. Yes, you must rejoice your impending motherhood no matter whether you have a girl or a boy. But as a parent, always ask yourself, what am I doing to ensure that my daughter or another’s is not harmed? I am afraid I don’t have a ready solution here. But like I mentioned in the post, beginning to talk about it is a start.

  • Your concerns are mine too. I wish I could see what tomorrow holds, even though I ensure today is as close to ‘ideal’ as a mother can wish! I do agree, talking talking, talking to your child is a good 1st step. Wonderfully written @V ki Amma:disqus.

Thanks Sakshi! Yes, I am terribly paranoid of this world our kids are growing up in. Even a child has a mind of his own and we can only talk hoping to influence.

      Thanks for reading Sakshi 🙂

I guess almost every parent has the same concerns, Rituparna, when it comes
to safeguarding their children since we live in a world that is a big, bad
place. I only wish more and more parents walk that extra mile or those extra
five miles in educating their daughters and sons (as you’ve mentioned in your
post) that a NO does not mean a MAYBE or a YES and that a NO is to be respected,
    not just dismissed.

      absolutely true Gauri!
