About The Birds And Bees

On the day my son turned nine

I thought that ‘twas about time

he learnt of the birds and bees

Of Adam and Eve, birth of babies

About The Birds And Bees - Sex Talk With Children - Sex Education In Schools

So I called in the reinforcements

Rang up his dad, me ex, said you’re the gent

Get on the job, do the needful

Tell the kid, we gotta be careful

That evening Dad turned up, sheepish and red

It was a job he seemed to dread

On the couch they both sat and whispered

They then chuckled and broke into laughter

Apparently the father’s information was dated

The son knew more, his dad he educated

His school and the internet are more modern and sharp

His Sex Ed Classes were thorough and smart

  • Ha ha…. reminds us how outdated we are in today’s always connected word.

  • *world

  • What a delightful way to tell us a story about something so important, yet one which makes us parents go red in the face like nothing else. Short, sweet and sex-y, if I may add. 🙂

    • Yeah Sakshi, and we are so dated. Google and school have made us redundant in so many ways 🙂 Glad you liked this

  • This poem made me laugh so much.
What I really liked was that you and your ex joined forces to parent your child together. Ideal situation. Well handled.

  • Lol…I dread this happening when I sit with my kid to discuss the above.

The time is here for our household to sit and talk in a casual way!

  • Wow! That was neat. And I think our kids are going to be way ahead of us. There is information overdose from everywhere, it wasn’t so in ‘our time’. I just hope we are not too late in educating them. It is good that schols are forthcoming in these issues.
