16 Thoughts on “Confessions Of An Overweight Mother

  1. I totally understand, and completely agree with the post you’ve written. You spoke my mind. Thanks Nidhi!

  2. Overweight ? You ? I dont buy in that.. your FB pictures says something else, pretty lady!

  3. Whether you’re overweight or not now, you certainly have a healthy attitude and I think that will be what your little girl will see and try and emulate!!

  4. So true… I am sure you are balancing it out pretty well.
When you have your own experience at hands, I am sure you will see to it that your child is not called overweight. And I believe you can handle it well because you know how a foodie person loves binging.

  5. Hi Nidhi,

While reading your post I thought I was reading about my apprehensions and my struggle. Trust me when I say that it is already tough being an overweight mom when your MIL says that wait for few years and your son will start saying that don’t come to my school as my friends make fun of me that you have a fatso for a mother.

It is like as if she is waiting for my son to actually come and say this to me. All in all a very good read and inspiring too. Thank you for sharing this.

    • Oh dear, insensitive people just take the cake – even if they rather wouldn’t eat it themselves! I have been at the brunt of such off-hand comments quite often, but now I just don’t care. I am doing my best, and that is all that matters – don’t you think ? :)

  6. You have no idea how comforting this post is for me …… Been there, done that, with the exception of the excercise bit …. kudos to you for having the grit to keep up the excercise – plan to get there one day ;-)

    • Thank you for your comment Meena. I know what you mean – the very thought of exercise gives me jitters. So I use various tricks to get some exercise done – one of which is to get the yoga instructor home – once she comes I have no place to hide ;)

  7. What a wonderful post Nidhi! I can soooo relate to this. I have spent all my life being called the chubby one and although I considered myself healthy for a long time, I am definitely an overweight mom now. Just like you it is my daughter who has pushed me to try and become more fit and healthy. I think all us overweight moms should make a community and support each other online. What do you say?? :)

Really loved your article – I am looking for ways to raise my daughter a confident woman and live her life to her own terms… not to the image peer and media projecting each day…
